A’ja Wilson’s New Signature Shoe Revealed

A’ja Wilson and Nike revealed images of the new signature women’s basketball shoe called the A’One. This shoe has been in the making since last year, where in June of 2024, she revealed her logo, which represented an A with a star combined. The A, of course, is for her name, and the star is for the star player she has been her whole career from college to the WNBA. The A’One sparkles and shines in its debut color of hot pink, which is A’ja Wilson's favorite color, and the shoe also includes Celtic symbols for her “mom and “dad.”. Nike and A’ja did not stop there to go along with the shoe; they also added a full A’One collection, which includes everything a young hooper would need as well as custom A’One tights that have one side short and the other side full length to highlight A’ja Wilson’s signature look. The day after the shoe was revealed, Aja’s boyfriend and NBA player Bam Adebayo, who plays for the Miami Heat, was spotted repping the hot pink shoes in his game vs the Nets, making the internet go crazy. The shoe and collection will be released in May 2025, right before the start of the 2025/26 WNBA season.

A’ja Wilson's full collection with Nike, including the A’one signature shoe, hoodie, Shirts, shorts, and the custom one-legged tights, all in hot pink to represent A’ja’s favorite color.
Old Grudge, New Flame: Tennessee vs UConn Rekindled

This past Thursday, an old rivalry was rekindled in the smokey mountains of Tennessee, where Uconn arrived to face an old foe. The women’s basketball rivalry between Uconn and Tennessee dates back to 1995 when a young Uconn head coach, Geno Auriemma, brought the battle to the late legendary Tennessee head coach, Pat Summit. The intensity in the styles of both coaches created a new match-up that everyone looked forward to. This rivalry has produced many stellar NCAA Championship games and many talented players like Tennessee alum Candance Parker and UConn alum Maya Moore. Although this has been such a staple rivalry in women’s college basketball, the two schools haven’t played each other since the 2023 season where UConn got the 84-67 win over the Lady Vols, but since that time, Tennessee has gotten back to its ranked status, and with first-year head coach Kim Caldwell the game was back to its star-studded match-up. Thursday night, UConn came into Knowville ranked No.5 while the Lady Vols ranked No.19, making this top 20 battle. From the first whistle, the speed of play was amazing to watch, both teams battling and fighting for not only their school but clearly for the sake of the rivalry. It was close all the way down to the wire, but in the fourth quarter, it was all Lady Vols. They kept UConn star guard Paige Bueckers to only 14 points the entire game, while Tennessee had four out of their five starters with double-digit scoring. In the last minute of the game, the Lady Vols were able to pull away and when the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Vols went crazy sprinting to Head Coach Kim Cadwell in pure jubilation. They were able to not only pull off the upset but also get their first win over UConn since 2007. After the game, Geno had some choice words to say about his star players, pointing out that,” The bottom line is that we have some players on our team that are supposed to be our best players and they’ve got to play better.”. This was after star player Paige Beuckers went 5/16 from the floor, still the credit must be given to Tennessee for their amazing defensive game plan. With this win Kim Caldwell joins the late Pat Summit as the only two coaches to have a win against UConn.
