The WNBA playoffs are right around the corner, and teams are fighting to get in, every game is becoming increasingly more intense. Many teams have been hitting their stride with teams like Liberty, Lynx, and Suns all continuing to win and remain in the top 3 spots. While on the other side teams like the Aces, Fever, and Storm battle in the middle of the standing for 4th, 5th, and 6th place, and going into this past weekend there was only one spot left up for grabs. The Atlanta Dream have been on the outside looking in, as they were in 9th place behind Chicago who was only one game ahead. Neither team could afford to lose this weekend, ratcheting up the pressure for both teams. Chicago had two games to win starting with Friday night’s game against the Sparks. The game was close at times, but eventually Chicago was able to pull away and get the win but at the cost of losing their star rookie Angel Reese due to a wrist injury. This loss made Sunday’s game against the Dallas Wings vital as they would have to win without Reese. The loss of Angel Reese seemed to bring the Sky closer together because they dominated the Wings securing the win they needed.

As Chicago secured their wins the Atlanta Dream crumbled under the pressure and failed to win both games like they needed. instead they went 1 for 1 in their games this weekend. Both games required overtime pushing the dream to their limit and in the second game against the Fever, the fatigue got to them. With these results, Chicago is still sitting one win ahead of Atlanta in that last spot. This week is the last week of regular season games so every game day will be a must-watch.
