Hello Game Changers!,
Let’s start with the WNBA, rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are continuing to have an amazing rookie season, with both athletes breaking records. After Sunday's loss to the Seattle Storm, Angel Reese finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds, setting a new record of 13 straight double-double games. Meanwhile, fellow rookie Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever were in a battle with the New York Liberty, a team that the Indiana Fever have gone 0-3 so far this season. On Saturday, July 6th, game Indiana Fever set out to get their first win against the Liberty. Ultimately, Indiana would get the 91-83 win following a record-setting triple-double. Caitlin Clark ended the game with 15 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, she is the first-ever rookie in the WNBA to record a triple-double. With both rookies getting an invite to the all-star it is safe to say these rookies will be putting on a show.
NWSL
The NWSL games have been nothing, but intense. Especially since some of the stars are heading to the Paris Olympics. To name a few that will be going is Mallory Swanson, Sophia Smith, Naomi Girma, and Rose Lavelle. Other players who will be representing different countries include; Ali Riley (New Zealand), Kailin Sheridan (Canada), and Emily Van Edmond (Australia). It will be a must watch for sure. The rest of the teams will be in an Olympic break aside from the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup.
The game of the week was the undefeated teams of Orlando Pride vs. Kansas City Current. An intense game where Orlando Pride became the team to come up top. Even after playing with 1 player down after the 42’ minute. They were able to pull through and get the win.
