The 2025 Commissioners Cup has been nothing short of amazing. For the past couple of weeks, teams have been competing day in and day out to secure a chance at the half-million dollar prize pool. Going into this year’s cup, many fans had last year’s champions, the Minnesota Lynx, as the favorite, because the team didn’t change much in the off-season. The Lynx kicked off the tournament the same way they left, by dominating team after team until finally beating the LV Aces 76-62 to send them to the Championship game. Meanwhile, on the eastern side of the bracket, things were getting mixed up as the Liberty and Fever battled for the top spot. It came down to the head-to-head game between the Fever and Liberty to break the tie. This gave the Fever the upper hand as they had beaten the Liberty 102-88, with Caitlin Clark scoring 32 points in that game. The newly stacked Fever defied the odds and will be making their first appearance in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship game. The stage is set; this year’s championship game will be between the Minnesota Lynx (Defending Champs) and the Indiana Fever (The Newbies). You can tune in on July 1st on ESPN to see which team gets their hands on that half-million dollar prize pool.

The first round of WNBA All-Star votes is in

This year's All-Star game will be on July 19th in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The WNBA opened the voting polls for the 2025 All-Star teams on Thursday, June 12th, and this week they released the top 10 from the first round of voting. Leading the way, Fever’s Caitlin Clark has 515,993 votes, with Lynx’s Naphessa Collier in second with 484,758 votes. Unlike the NBA, in the WNBA, the fan votes account for 50% of the overall All-Star vote, making some question the validity of who is considered an All-Star and who is just a fan favorite. With so much say given to the fans, it is important to go vote for players that you think deserve to play in the All-Star game this year, which will be held on July 19th in Indiana. You can go the WNBA.com to start voting today. The WNBA will close voting on June 28th and will be announcing the 2025 All-Star team shortly after.

Rose Lavelle has been missing in action since December, recovering from ankle surgery that she had shortly after the 2024 season. The 2019 FIFA WWC star finally made her return to the pitch earlier this month for Gotham, receiving limited minutes in the past few games. Head coach of the USWNT, Emma Hayes, has also included Rose in the recent roster for the upcoming summer friendlies in the hopes of giving her some minutes to ease back into that level of play. Emma said, “We are missing her experience, and we’re very much looking forward to her coming back.”. For a team that is bringing in younger and younger talent, there is still that need for a leader to help carry on the expectations as they head into preparations for the 2027 World Cup starting next year. For now, though, Rose is just looking to get back into the swing of things and try to find new connections with some of the newer players on the team. The next game for the USWNT will be this week on Thursday and Sunday against the Republic of Ireland. Tune in to TBS/MAX/Peacock to watch Rose Lavelle make her return.
