This weekend NWSL was filled with a ton with emotions due to the rivalry games. Rivalry games bring a ton of fans around to see who is the best. One of the most anticipated games was the SoCal Derby SD Wave vs Angel City LAFC . The other top rivalry games were Gotham FC vs Washington Spirit and Portland Thorns vs Seattle Reign. It brought some veterans back to watch these special games like Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe. For the Gotham FC game vs Washington Spirit, the weather was really warm and Gotham was down 1 player after the 35th minute. After that, Washington Spirit went full force trying to score but Gotham played defense with their lives. Unfortunately Spirit was unable to score so it ended up tied 0-0. For the SoCal Derby it was going back and forth. Both teams had opportunities and when the game was close to being over San Diego Wave scored in the 85th minute, now up by one. All hope was lost now for Angel City with only having 5 minutes left until extra time. In extra time, Angel City was able to equalize ending the game tied 1-1. Now the next biggest rivalry game was Portland Thorns vs Seattle Reign. Seattle Reign scored in the first starting minutes of the game. Seattle was able to equalize in a penalty kick that they earned. In halftime it was 2-1 Portland Thorns ahead. In the second half, it was Portland that responded in the 55th minute now up by two goals against Seattle. Seattle didn’t go down easy because in the 64 minute they were able to score and now make it a 1 goal difference. Unfortunately, Portland Thorns scored less than a minute later. The game ended 4-2. It was a good weekend of NWSL rivalry soccer.

Starting August 9th, the WNBA is holding a Rivalry week up until August 17th. This week is crucial for playoff contention and showing the best match ups. On August 9th, Indiana Fever vs Chicago Sky was the start of rivalry week. Unfortunately Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are both out on injury but it was still a great game to watch. Other good games to watch is Liberty vs Sparks, Liberty vs Aces, Storm vs Dream, etc. The top four teams right now 1. Minnesota Lynx, 2. NY Liberty, 3. Atlanta Dream, and 4. Phoenix Mercury. This could change from now to the end of rivalry week. Especially when the season ends September 11th, which is just a month away!
