NWSL puts bid in for Second Division
The NWSL has officially submitted a bid to the U.S. Soccer Federation for a second division. This second division will be another professional league that will help filter talent into the NWSL. Countries like England and Spain have multiple divisions/levels of professional leagues. The league's purpose is to allow players more opportunities and growth in the sport. If the U.S. Soccer Federation approves both bids, then the NWSL second division plans to launch in 2026 alongside the WPSL Pro. Growing the sport in the US is in high demand, and with these leagues, the number of professional teams will jump from 12 to 50. The ball is now in the half of the U.S. Soccer Federation.

NWSL seeks to start a second division league by 2026.
WNBA players return for Training camp
WNBA training camp has officially begun. Players both old and new have arrived at their teams and are already hitting the ground running. As mentioned last week, this is the time coaches thoroughly evaluate their camp rosters to see who will make the 12-player roster. For the rookies, this is their first taste of professional ball, and the stakes are high. The WNBA season kicks off on May 16th, which means there is such a limited time for coaches and players to gel quickly, which in turn makes the camp atmosphere intense. Besides the intensity and pressure of it all, it is still a chance for fans to get sneak peeks of the potential connections between the rookies and the vets on the team. Not only this, but all players who were traded in the off-season get a chance to put on the colors of their new team and start to build a connection with their new teammates. Teams like the Dallas Wings have almost a whole new team. In the off-season, they acquired players like Dijonai Carrington, Nalyssa Smith, and star rookie Paige Bueckers to help out their 7th-year vet Arike Ogunbawale. This season is on pace to gross more fan viewership, and it all starts when the teams submit their final roster on May 14th. Tune in each week to see updates on any major cuts or player releases throughout training camp.
