After 18 years, Arsenal’s Women’s team finally lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy. The last time Arsenal experienced a win like this was back in 2007, and since then, Arsenal have gone cold in the major tournaments. After a disappointing season last year, Arsenal regrouped over the summer with new signings like Chloe Kelly from Manchester City and Emily Fox from Racing Louisville. However, hiring a new coach made the real difference. Arsenal hired Renee Sleger in October 2024. She started as interim head coach, but as the season went on, Arsenal gave her a contract through the 2025/26 season. Renee brought her style to the team, and they played with more grit than ever before. For Arsenal, their road to the final was tough; in the semi-final, they had to come back from behind to beat the 8-time champions Lyon. With the odds stacked against them, Arsenal showed the grit and beat Lyon 4-1. This past Saturday, the Final was set: Arsenal vs Barcelona. Barcelona were on track to complete the 3-peat, while Arsenal were trying to win their first trophy since 2007. Throughout the game, Arsenal created the most chances while Barcelona struggled to find their rhythm. At halftime, it was 0-0, and the second half was more of the same until Renee made a key sub for Arsenal by sending on striker Stina Blackstenius. After seven minutes, Arsenal’s super sub Blackstenius collected a pass from Beth Mead and took a few touches before she slotted it far post past the outreached arms of Barca’s goalie Cata Coll. One goal was all that was needed for Arsenal to lift the trophy. Arsenal defender Leah Williamson said her “dreams came true” after winning the UWCL trophy for her childhood club. A truly historic run for Arsenal and head coach Renee Sleger, and for so many fans who have been waiting 18 long years to celebrate a UWCL title win.
The San Diego Wave is making a Historic Splash, plus the Scoreline of Week 10

San Diego Wave defeated the NC Courage 5-2 on Sunday night at SnapDragon Stadium
For the San Diego Wave, this season has been going better than anyone could have ever expected. With the retirement of Alesx Morgan, last year’s departure of Jayden Shaw to NC Courage, and the mid-season transfer of Naomi Girma to Chelsea, it was hard to believe the Wave would be able to compete. Well, this was far from the truth, since then the Wave have been having a historic season, the touch of European flair from players like Cascerino and Morroni has set up the Wave to be in second place right behind KC Current. This weekend, they had a scoring frenzy against NC Courage, putting five goals past them. The win adds to the longest win streak in SD Wave history.
